This is the first Friday of the month when for the past 77 years the jobs report has been posted. But not today, not in Trump's admin because as you say David, only good news will be reported and since there is none there is no report.

Well, given that our Bureau of Labor Statistics is no longer permitted to report Bad News, we're left with depending on the private sector for information about how our economy is performing.
The consultancy of Challenger, Gray, and Christmas has stepped up:
Except for the part about some of the job cuts being caused by AI it is a pretty good report. AI tech is not yet good enough to replace humans at any significant scale, and probably won't be for a long time. I say this as someone who does research in the field and holds patents on certain AI-adjacent processes.

It is up 44% from the 761,358 cuts announced in all of 2024. Year-to-date job cuts are at the highest level since 2020 when 2,304,755 cuts were announced through October.
