It's the Okanogan County Fire Information page and also the Okanogan/Methow Valley Items of Interest. They had limited details about the Gilbert Mtn. fire as it had just been spotted, I believe. I saw what I thought was a spotter plane yesterday and heard something this morning.
Sure, if we can get the rain and don't get the wind, but I see it starting to be breezy now, and it is near a burn scar, all should be well. But the other side of it is, we know what happened with the Crescent Fire. Much has burned up there, but much has not.
And it is probably not very accessible.
Those 2 sites along with the FS posting are the most reliable. I haven't gone to Watch Duty today. Will.
No new info.

Which FB pages are you using to get wildfire info?

I will say if it did show the Gilbert, I could have clicked on the highlighted longitudes, and it would come up and show a map of the vicinity. I tried it on a fire that I didn't know and it was nowhere near here, but again a map did pop up.

Sorry, normally I use ours, but with the current batch of fires from the last lightning that was the link I had been using, my bad.

Yes, I’m aware of that - since I worked in that world for 40+ years.

I just don’t understand why you posted such an unhelpful reference. I doubt Pearl would know how to read it.

Jim: using the link I gave, just go to the upper left corner, hit HOME and you can choose what area you want info from.

RB….your link is for the dispatch center - NEWICC - in Colville.
Their dispatch area covers the very lower parts of the Methow, and the Fed, State and private lands east of the Loup.
They do NOT follow or dispatch for fires in the Methow anywhere north of about Methow town/Gold Creek. That fire would not be listed there.

Pearl….I checked some other sources.
Looks like that fire is/was very small - burning in old fire scar. It doesn’t appear it is even staffed.

Smoke here is from fires all around us. By definition….a hot, high pressure, dome of air over us …IS stagnant.
Thankfully, it appears that situation is ‘breaking down’ and we will soon see clearer skies.
Along with cooler temps! Yeah!

Any news on the Gilbert Mtn. fire. Facebook said 1/10 of an acre, near an old burn scar. Smokey up Twisp River. Wondered if it is putting out that smoke. I know there are many other fires from other counties.
