And it goes on and on. At this point the rank and file inside the Pentagon must be getting pretty noisy.

I bet the businesses in Winthrop and Twisp would accept that much cash! Unless it is counterfeit. Which there was a round of cunterfeit bills coming through the Valley earlier in the year.

At best, she's now a laughing stock member of Trump's inner circle.
At worst, well, I'm still laughing

I think a lot of people are reasonable more concerned about suspicious and weird activity by a high government official than any chicanery a random day laborer gets up to.
It is also weird that she had her passport with her. Almost like she was carrying a bug out bag with her.
Given the large amounts of static you can get for carrying large amounts of cash with you, it is important to note that very few people still do so. $3000 isn't enough to set off an SAR but it does get noticed if you go through airport security with it. Ask me how I know. And very few businesses will accept that much cash without some kind of pre-arrangement, and even then a lot will never do so.
High end botox and cosmetic surgery is almost always paid for with a very high limit credit card or wire transfer.

I really don’t get what is the outrage, I’m sure more details will come but I think there’s about a hundred different possibilities that seem reasonable. Shouldn’t we be questioning the security detail?

The Homeland Security director, with a fully complement of Secret Service can't manage to hold onto her own purse in a restaurant.

What a ridiculous bassackwards pejorative! I’ve had far more than $3k in cash many times, I should be arrested just on suspicion but a gang banger, human trafficker, wife beater who’s here illegally CANT be deported to his home country (with 2 court orders for removal) otherwise we’re ALL in danger of losing every freedom?! Oh that’s right, you think people should be arrested and shoved full of experimental juice with a rusty needle if you’re scared! I’m more confident every day in my positions and views when they’re different from yours.

Speaking of Kristi Noem, I want an explanation for why she was carrying around $3000 in cash.
In a lot of jurisdictions in this country, if you are caught with more than $400 in cash it is assumed you are Up To No Good and the cash is confiscated.

"The Pentagon is in chaos and your Secretary of Defense drunkenly leaked national secrets on the unclassified web. The trade war with China starting to look like Waterloo and you're Nappy. Your VP killed the Pope. You got caught lying about the guy you illegally deported to a Central American gulag. The entirety of Harvard Law is now arrayed against you. And the head of America's SECURITY got her purse stolen along with her national security credentials WHILE she was looking at it.
Hell of week, man.
But, hey, at least the economy is ... oh, sh**. Yeah, never mind." Stonekettle Station

Reporting that the WH has initiated a search for a replacement for Hegseth. WH press secretary claims 'whole Pentagon is against Hegseth'. Mmmm, the whole Pentagon is being mean to Hegseth...perhaps the problem isn't the WHOLE PENTAGON?

This is all very bad, but at the same time not at all surprising. Put idiots in charge and idiotic things will happen.
