Where did you see that, Pearl?
Having only 20 IMTs, Nationally, is a pretty major decline!

Well, they are not concerned about the 40 Fire Incident Command posts reduced to 20-Nationwide.
Probably don't even know about it.

• Public comment – citizens voice their concern about the impact of federal budget cuts on Okanogan County residents and about the state of our country. BOCC reassures them that the chaos is temporary, much of it is due to misinformation, everything will get settled out soon and essential programs such as Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid will be fully funded.

So busy shooting the messenger never bothering to read the article. Unfortunately for Ken the messengers are carrying the stats and not opinions which is not something he's used to. Reality bites.

Like the NPR article says, you can't get there unless you cut from Medicaid...
A good explainer

Ah well, firing half of the dept.of education work force and possibly cutting some teachers salaries, that should help make up for the short fall.

Whole lot of chicken Littles out there as the House proposed CR does not touch Ss Medicare or Medicaid. Let's see which party votes to shut down the gov friday
In any ‘normal’ presidency - yes - this would be the case. BUT, we are in lawless times - where a CONVICTED FELON and his UNELECTED PUPPET MASTER have shown themselves to be willing to undertake actions that are clearly Unconstitutional.
(Not that you would be willing to recognize that….)

78% is astounding! The ripple effect will no doubt impact physicians, dentists and schools as they struggle to cover the deficit when those kids no longer are covered.
Of course the simplest solution of all is to tax the rich their fair share. Voila! Budget balanced, social security gets a raise, medicare and medicaid back in business.

I continue to wonder at the number of people who are willing to vote AGAINST their own self interest!
At the Saturday protest….a friend gave me a statistic that I am still trying to digest:
What % of children in Okanogan County do you suppose rely on Medicaid for their health care?
It is 78%! I sort of astounded by that….
What do think is the % of parents - of those kids - voted for FELON Pee-Pants?

The boatload of letters like this, as well as interviews from various MAGAs who believe that somehow they should be exempt because they voted for Trump or believed his lies would be comical if all the rest of us weren't forced to go along on the ride over the cliff.

From the Board of County Commissioner notes, posted today Mar 10, on the Methownet Bulletin Board:
Bold is mine:
Update from Okanogan County Community Action Council (OCCAC) on the impact of Federal budget cuts. Many eligible people will not be able to receive the food and assistance they count on. BOCC is convinced that the cuts are due to the recent discovery of waste in the Federal Govt and that if the BOCC writes a letter to the new EPA Secretary explaining that we don’t spend the money on frivolous things and that it will be going to deserving American Citizens, it will be restored.
Im sure their strategy will be successful. Especially if they contact the EPA about food problems!
