Hi Ray, as i just explained - our grange is happy to have community members help us compile questions for these forums.
I know our turnout is not likely to be great for this primary election…. But we feel the primaries are just as important to this process as the general in November.
My recollection is that you have a background with the OCEC. So you may be a good person to tap for questions for this race. Doing a forum with three separate races is challenging, but it’s the reality of what are contested races in this local election.
The two State Legislators positions are where i think we are most need of a few more good questions. We give our moderator a list of the questions that we solicit and they use their judgement to fit in as much as we can in the time frame.
I’ll attach the flyer to help you know what the format of this forum is.
With my regards and thanks,
Wendy Braden
So... anybody have some good questions to ask the candidates?July 15, 2024
Dear Candidates,
We are anticipating this forum and looking forward to meeting you. We told you to expect two prepared
questions. You’ll find them at the bottom of this page.
PREPARED QUESTION # ONE - FOR ST. LEGISLATOR - po*. ONE: This the usual Opening Statement -
but besides your background - please include why you want to represent this large area of Northeast
Washington AND the skills that will make you a good legislator.
PREPARED QUESTION # TWO - The St Supreme Court has ruled that Washington State’s Capital Gains Tax
is not in violation of the state’s constitution, finding it to be an excise tax rather than an income tax. The
legislation provides for the standard deduction of $250,000 for individual.
What is your position regarding this Capital Gains Tax?
