It's record heat down there and the draw of air conditioners is immense. I think that state may be in trouble, but Abbot is not that popular right now.

Well I suppose we could all just turn to the Texas example where the state that should be self reliant on gas has once again announced that their grid is failing. That Rep led economic set of policies has failed.

Because Obiden is improving energy exploration/production in this country? These ‘predictions’ have been horrible so far during this administration (“inflation is transitory “) so I’m not holding my breath!

Economists are predicting that by the time this comes into effect gas prices will be down more than $1 from where they are today.

I never have understood how forcing people in one state to pay more taxes/money will clean the WORLDS air?

Washington gas taxes to nearly double next year under carbon program
By Brett Davis | The Center Square Jul 12, 2022 Updated 18 hrs ago
Washington state’s new tax on carbon dioxide emissions under the Climate Commitment Act is projected to add 46 cents per gallon to the cost of gas next year, nearly doubling the amount of taxes Washingtonians will pay at the pump. The current state gas tax is nearly 50 cents per gallon.
Passed by the state Legislature in 2021, the Climate Commitment Act – Senate Bill 5126 – directs the Washington State Department of Ecology to develop and implement a statewide cap-and-trade program to cut carbon pollution by requiring emitters to obtain “emissions allowances” equal to their covered greenhouse gas emissions.
Similar to stocks and bonds, these allowances can be obtained through quarterly auctions hosted by Ecology.
