I don't agree with him that moving back to the center means trying to appease the right.

It would be done to marginalize the extremes.

Its hard to get things done when many of our politicians are controlled by special interest money.

An example would be Democratic Senator Krysten Sinema who was in favor of controlling the price of prescription drugs for Medicare recipients until she received $750,000 worth of Big Pharma campaign donations.

To add. Also hard to get things done when one side of the senate obstracts the process in an effort to asure the other side fails.
