I don't mind paying for services through some taxes, that's about the only way, but increase upon increase for property owners reaches a limit.
The Commissioners did state in the MV News that the reason for the short fall. Items became more expensive and the income stayed the same.
Sounds like a familiar dilemna, not only for the Commissioners.

I read that also, Pearl.
I looked at my 2025 tax statement. I believe that increase - which is about +30% - would apply ONLY to the ‘Current County Expense’ sub-item….not to your entire tax bill.
I think.
Still that would amount to about a $125 increase on my taxes.

Property taxes, oh yeah
From the BOCC minutes last week.
• The commissioners discuss the pros and cons of two different tax increases to put on the ballot—a additional sales tax of 0.1% to go to Public Safety, and an increase in the property tax from $0.88 to $1.15 per $1,000 of assessed value. After much discussion, they pass a motion to move forward with putting the property tax increase on the August, 2026, ballot. In the weeks to come, they’ll discuss the exact wording of the ballot measure.
Umm, there are 3 Republicans that are county commissioners. So they are into taxing to get their butts out of a sling of a short fall budget. How'd that happen. Did not plan ahead.
