Re: The great Epstein unravelling
The other reason the information was not released and nobody else was prosecuted is that it all was likely well past the statute of limitations and charges could not be brought. Most of the real damning child sexual abuse and trafficking evidence was likely fifteen years old, or much older, when Epstein was finally arrested on federal charges in 2019.
So even if there was video from 1998 of Donald Trump raping a little girl they can't bring charges.
DOJ is not supposed to release evidence it collects when it is not making a righteous case.
My bet is that we are never going to see most of the information and that they are going to play cute with releasing anything at all. Which while from their standpoint they might feel they have no choice will be politically catastrophic for them.

Re: The great Epstein unravelling
During the Biden admin there couldn't be a release of the Epstein files because of the Maxwell appeal that was pending.
Both Reps and Dems voted for the Transparency Act, which was a big surprise to Johnson who had counted on Thune making amendments and then the plan was to send it back to the House where it would become tied up in more amendment battles and then die. Instead, Schumer brought the Bill forward unchanged in the Senate. Note that both Dem and Rep Senators know there will be members of their Party, like Larry Summers and Trump who will be exposed.
FYI, because of the released emails we already know that Bill Clinton was never on Epstein's infamous island, but likewise we do know that Trump's name is by far the most frequently mentioned.

.
Because from 2021 to 2025 the Administration was prevented from doing so by very strict Court Orders. You know….back in those ‘olden days’ when an Administration ACTUALLY followed the orders of a Court….
But dont let that stop you from continuing to stick up for, defend, and apologize for some sick puke….

Funny, because they never 'brought' it when they were in charge. Why exactly was that? Oh, that's right they only 'care' when they think it will get the orange monster, they've never actually cared about the victims.

I haven't seen a Dem yet who has said they are in any way resistant to the transparency because there are any Dems involved. It's more an attitude of Bring It!
On the other hand, Trump and his enablers have fought tooth and nail to obstruct this, until Trump realized he could rely on Bondi to open an investigation and use that as an excuse not to release the files to the public.

Wow! The House passes the discharge petition with 1 opposing vote, and then the Senate passes it quickly with unanimous consent.
The winds are shifting here.

Re: The great Epstein unravelling
Yes, and just read that MTG stopped attending mass after she became a mother, citing her disappointment with the way the Catholic Church handled the abuse of young boys by their leaders. So, makes even more sense about her decision with the Epstein files. The joint presser she participated in this morning with some of Epstein's victims and 2 other (R) Congressmembers, in anticipation of Wed's vote, was profound.

Re: The great Epstein unravelling
Actually MTG was raised Catholic, not evangelical.
I have to wonder what it is about cults that so encourage child sexual abuse?
Given some of the things we know well about Donald Trump:
1. Morals and ethics have never got in the way of doing whatever he feels like doing. The only thing that keeps him from doing something is the risk of getting caught.
2. He has been found judicially to have committed sexual assault. And there have been numerous additional accusations of sexual assault.
3. He has publicly bragged about getting away with sexual assault (ref: the Access Hollywood tape).
4. He has a long history of public statements about young women and girls (and actions around them) which were inappropriate or just plain creepy. Including about his own daughter.
5. He brags about cheating on his taxes.
6. He has a well-documented history of cheating on his spouses.
7. He has a well-documented history of cheating at golf.
8. His record of business dealings is a cesspit of corruption and fraud.
That track record is consistent with an extremely corrupt, degenerate person of low moral character. So it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he raped females under the age of 18 if he thought he could get away with it. In fact, in the absence of clear information to the contrary I'd consider it a safe bet that he did.

Bruce Fanger:
"The Zealot’s Wobble: MTG’s Identity Quake
White Rose USA — November
Marjorie Taylor Greene didn’t break — she wobbled. And for someone built entirely out of conviction, that single tremor means more than a hundred political defections. Greene has always been understood backwards. People think she’s a strategist, a grifter, a carnival-barker, a walking press release. But beneath the noise, she’s something simpler, and far more volatile: a believer whose entire sense of self is fused to a story.
She grew up in the deep pews of Southern evangelical Christianity, where life is explained through cosmic warfare and moral binaries. The world is divided into saved and doomed, righteous and corrupt, chosen and deceived. That worldview didn’t prepare her for nuance — it prepared her for crusades. It didn’t give her intellectual tools — it gave her emotional armor. She carried that worldview everywhere she went.
CrossFit didn’t replace church; it extended it. A new form of revival — tribal, ascetic, punishing, ecstatic. Every rep a ritual. Every personal record a confirmation. But physical intensity couldn’t feed the spiritual hunger forever.
QAnon was waiting to catch her next fall.
And it felt familiar.
Revelation rewritten with hashtags.
Prophecy coded in drops.
Hidden evil, chosen warriors, the final storm — everything she’d been primed to believe since childhood.
And then came Donald Trump, the perfect vessel for a life spent searching for a savior. She didn’t support him politically — she anointed him spiritually. He became the warrior-king in the modern Book of Revelations she carried around in her head. She entered Congress like someone entering a revival tent, and she performed accordingly — rebuking demons rather than debating peers.
Her marriage fell away.
Her old life burned behind her.
Her faith wasn’t broken — it was redistributed.
Church → CrossFit → Conspiracy → Trump.
One fused, continuous, unbroken religion.
And then the Epstein files cracked the story.
To normal Republicans, Trump’s Epstein ties are a scandal.
To Greene, they’re a theological contradiction.
Epstein is the avatar of evil in the mythology she’s built.
Trump is the chosen warrior meant to destroy that evil.
To see the two intertwined is not hypocrisy — it is cosmic dissonance.
So she lashed out.
And then she apologized.
Not out of strategy, but out of existential panic.
Zealots don’t calculate.
Zealots cling.
Her outburst was heartbreak; her apology was fear.
Not of Trump — but of her identity splintering.
A believer whose savior suddenly looks mortal is not rebelling. She’s drowning.
That tiny moment — that wobble — matters.
Because movements don’t crack when leaders defect.
They crack when true believers hesitate.
When the priestess trembles, the congregation feels it.
And for one beat, Marjorie Taylor Greene trembled.

Re: The great Epstein unravelling
David, the criminal side of this is long past. The issues of the ripple effects of the power held by the participants is still very much in play. Look at Larry Summer's response just yesterday, after years of feeling comfortable he's now exiting the room. The doors that the Epstein files open for fracturing of long-held associations, networks and certainly secrets is what's in play. The Epstein files are giving the true believers like MTG the opportunity to call it quits on Trump because he's not the warrior she supported, he's instead enmeshed in a sordid lifestyle that goes against the grain of her Evangelical upbringing.
To add to your example, if this valley found out that the leader of a church participated in human trafficking, sexually abused young girls along with other clergy it would shake the religious core of most, not stop at hatred for the individuals. MTG entrusted a near religious belief in Trump as a leader who would adhere to the tenants of religion. To this day, he has not.

Re: The great Epstein unravelling
Who's going to read all this stuff? MTG and GOP want to see what kind of dirt there is on others and people aligned with the Dems.
But what can "they" do regarding any charges brought against anyone? Just because people say things in emails, can they be charged for being pedophiles? Probably not. If Trump pardons Ghislane Maxwell, he will have a big problem there. She's already living a good life in a posh jail, probably for her own safety.
In a press conference in the Oval, of course Trump hoarsly said, "it's the Dems. that wanted these files released. Nope, not all. MTG and others wanted the files released too.
Now, this gives some of the GOP a good excuse to get out from under Trump's thumb. They are being ruled by him and might just be getting a little tired of it.

I think there is zero chance that Trump will suffer any legal consequences for his obvious participation in this filth. The political consequences might be pretty bad for him, though. Although I wouldn't count those chickens before they have hatched.Rideback wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 4:51 pm Hearing it rumored that we're now only 1 more email drop away from a White Bronco pulling up to the WH and Karoline Leavitt driving Trump away...
What really, really disgusts me about this: if you had a prominent member of the community (say a doctor, teacher, or police officer) with the same fact patterns and information as we have right now about Trump and his involvement with a well-known pedophile and human trafficker, it would be a no-brainer that you run that creep out of town. The same thing if a close friend or employee or co-worker was in the same situation.
Like I said, it would be a no-brainer.
Which leads to my other issue: why do we really need to know more about this? There is enough information here for a reasonable person to draw the obvious conclusions. And if there was evidence that proved that Trump never touched a girl I'm sure that would have been released already. So while it is entertaining (and sometimes stomach churning) to watch so many obnoxious powerful people squirm and make excuses for a monster, I think at this point it hurts us more than helps us to have more information. And this isn't a criminal case, there likely will never be a criminal case, we aren't a jury.
So what I'm saying is, that if someone hasn't figured it out by now, the next dump of information is unlikely to convince them and give them a clue. So why do we have to wade through this garbage at all?

MTG invested heavily in Trump Truth Social DJT which opened in the 60's but yesterday was at 11 so no doubt she's lost a big chunk of her 'believer' money if she hasn't already sold.
Of all the emails from the Epstein estate, which Trump is mentioned in more than half, the one that wasn't on my bingo card was Epstein's brother asking him about Trump giving 'Bubba' a bj. Widely speculated that Bubba is Bill Clinton and entirely unverified, but lordy that is a visual I'll never be able to unsee.
Then there's the email exchange between Epstein and Norway go betweens to Russia where Epstein is offering insights to Putin into how to manage Trump just days before the infamous Helsinki meeting where Trump destroyed the notes of the meeting and came out looking blindsided to stand beside a triumphant Putin as Trump told the crowd he trusted Putin more than US intel agencies.

Oh, and something about pictures being worth a thousand words...

Italics are mine.Patty Owen, an Elle and Cosmopolitan cover star, recalls seeing Trump at Elite parties as far back as 1982. “He would always be at the bar. That’s where he would stay and that’s where all the new models would hang out,” she says. “Whenever I saw him, I was always like: why does John have to invite him?” Barbara Pilling, also then an Elite model, told us Trump asked her out for dinner in the summer of 1989 at an industry soiree. She recalls Trump asking how old she was. “I said 17 and he said, ‘That’s just great – you’re not too old, not too young.’”

My question about MTG is whether she is a disillusioned True Believer or someone who detects which way the wind is blowing and is going after the Main Chance.

Problem with MTG is that she hopes this administration will fight for the American people. The admin. totally backs Trump, so that is not going to change much. But MTG may be opening her eyes and may, at some point, open them wider.
