If you are going to go on a public BB and try to defend a racist, fascist, homophobe - and try to use children to do so - then you better be prepared to take the flack you know will come.
If you cant then, yes, you are a thin-skinned blowhard bully.

No, I really just hate your sh** arse! Anyone who will disparage a neighbors children because they happen to think someone getting assassinated over politics is wrong is a complete jackass. The fact that all the haters here don't care as long as their political enemy and any supporters are attacked relentlessly and viciously just shows how morally bankrupt and disgusting you are. But I'm not saying anything new.

Also, the United States is one of three countries (the other two being Eritrea and Hungary) that taxes US Citizens on their worldwide income. Which is 180 degrees from how corporations are treated.

Good points Mister Coffee. Manufacturers and companies are different than people's health. Considering $2000 to give to each and every person for their health care needs won't cut it. It has been found that those in the Red states are the ones that will be affected by lack of health care.
Fixes do need to be made in the system at the same time helping people with their health costs. Not for profit health care is needed.

Re: Shutdown bad and good
Not all tax breaks are the same.
And corporations have access to resources and accounting chicanery that aren't possible for living humans. As an example, it is more or less legal and technically straightforward to "offshore" a corporation's profits and evade most taxes. That's impossible for a human: as a US Citizen, I'd still have to pay taxes even if I lived on the Ross Ice Shelf. Worse, if I as a human decided to renounce my citizenship and become a citizen of Latvia I would have to pay additional US taxes before I could do that -- something historically done only by totalitarian regimes, most notoriously the old Soviet Union and related Eastern Bloc countries.
Also, people vote, corporations don't.

Re: Shutdown bad and good
I find it ironic, comical and hypocritical that the ones on here that bytch and complain about tax breaks for some manufacturers and companies are now screaming bloody murder because 1 political party is wanting to do away with government subsidies to a major industry. While their party is all in favor of spending over a trillion dollars a year to line the pockets of that same industry (insurance).
Is this a case of double standards? Uninformed belly ackers? or just a group that feels they are entitled to something because they breath?

Probably a good time to take a look at just what the ACA is and how it functions

Sso now you think they're perfectly acceptable to try and force your priorities in the minority? po* hypocrite.
I work in Healthcare and did it through COVID, your policies haven't made my life better and I've seen how much worse you made it for my patients.
Maybe you should stick to your computers and not pretend you know everything or just leave to where it's better in the world?

Re: Shutdown bad and good
Of course we are likely to be right back in a shutdown in February. Nothing has been resolved here.
"Nobody''s life is better since Trump took office." -- Tim Dillion, MAGA Podcaster.
I'd disagree. Trump and his cronies are still raking in a billion dollars a month. Nice work if you can get it, I suppose.

Re: Shutdown bad and good
The ACA was a crap program from the jump, really designed to have government take over Healthcare. It's NOT affordable nor care and made things far worse. You dems jumped on COVID to far expand it but then put in expiration banking you'd control everything and push through the 'temp' expansion.
So just like every time you did this as a temper tantrum and got nothing, so thanks for the new record shutdown for nothing assholes!

Mike Johnson now saying he won't bring the ACA subsidies to a vote on the floor and Lindsey Graham saying that Dems should just forget the ACA alltogether.

Re: Shutdown bad and good
Well, did the Dems do the right thing?. The Seattle Times explains that according to the Dems. it was getting to be too much suffering for the American people. Have the Republicans made a hollow promise to work on the ACA after this gov't opens up? Probably. They want to see ACA disappear. They have no offer except to give people money from the insurance companies. Sure wouldn't cover major surgery, would it.
The system does need help and much improvement. Not for profit medical care is what is needed.
People will lose their insurance and the admin doesn't care. People will go to emergency rooms more.
The insurance companies will go bust. Is that a good thing? Is some insurance a scam? Of course, gone are the days when you could pay the local Dr. in cash or trade.
I like my Medicare, which I paid into for years.

This all makes a lot more sense when you realize that the Republicans can't make a deal even if they actually wanted to.

Yeah…the reboplicans decided to reject the Senate Dems offer to re-open, contingent on a 1 year extension of ACA.

Who’s bargaining in bad faith….?

Re: Shutdown bad and good
It really doesn’t matter whether there has been a house vote, or not, on a CR.
There is no end to the ‘black is white’, ‘up is down’ or ‘2+2=5’ reasoning. It’s all ok….just gotta keep drinking the kool-aid.

We All Know Why too. It is because of the discharge petition on the Epstein files.Rideback wrote: Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:02 am Johnson has had Congress in recess for over 40 days. No negotiations, no Budget to vote on. He has refused to swear in the AZ Representative. It's so bad that even Marjorie Taylor Greene has decided to call the Rep's out.
What is the practical difference between the situation that obtains at present with respect to the House of Representatives and Trump unilaterally dissolving it?

Re: Shutdown bad and good
Yeah, I remember all the times you guys blamed the Dems when they were in charge and the government was shut down. And you DEFINITELY didn't say it was irresponsible for the minority party to use the filibuster trying to get their priorities forced on the majority (and it never worked BTW). Also, the house passed the clean CR so their work is done, it's the Senate (who demanded for CR whenever Dems were in control) that is refusing and obstinate. But without double standards you have no standards whatsoever and like always it's 'heads you win, tails Rs lose every time'! You guys don't believe one single bit in democracy only one party rule but ONLY your party forever.
