Newsom's plans to find workarounds are fascinating. Be interesting if WA and OR (as the western seaports) figure out some kind of joint plan.

I predict by June the tariffs will be over 10000%. Largely because these people are innumerate and will just want to use bigger numbers to keep everyone's attention on them.

Meanwhile, Newsom is trying to negotiate exemptions to the tariffs with the countries whom Trump is imposing tariffs. Our state should join that effort.

Wed am, China announces an 84% retaliatory tariff. Stories of containers on the water pretty much tell the story of the crash that is coming. One broker said he had a container bound for a retailer, the cost of the merchandise was $130,000 plus a tariff of $31,000 yesterday. Today the tariff is $137,000. The retailer has cancelled. Thousands of containers are on the water, soon the ports of Long Beach and Seattle will be clogged like they were during Covid, or they could go to Vancouver.
