Re: Kash Patel Fact Check
Typical full of bull*** lying hypocritical demonrat. The bet was simple, $500 to the election winners charity, period. But I’m not surprised, you’re a coward and abject liar who can only hurl insults and make disgusting jokes behind the safety of your keyboard.

Re: Kash Patel Fact Check
I don't get where people think these agencies are "bloated". Given the jobs we expect them to do I suspect they are horribly understaffed.
The NYPD (50_000 officers) could probably arrest all of the FBI special agents (about 10_000). None of the agencies under Homeland Security are particularly large either, with CBP having about 60_000 officers, or just slightly more than NYPD does. Homeland Security mostly does border, immigration, and customs. And the Secret Service, which is mostly about protecting VIPs with an odd historic add-on of going after counterfeiters.
The secret service has about 3000 special agents and a bit over 1000 uniformed officers. So again LAPD or NYPD could easily arrest the lot of them. And what an episode of _COPS_ that would make...
Nobody has explained to me how 60_000 CBP officers, even with generous reinforcement, can arrest and deport more than ten million undocumented immigrants in any non-geologic time scale. And to recruit, hire, and train a large number of additional officers will take many years. Even with generous support from the military and local law enforcement we are draining an ocean with a shot glass.

Re: Kash Patel Fact Check
Wasteful spending does need to be looked at in both agencies, but not by billionaires. They are so out of touch with the regular folk. The Plutocrat article is great. Who wants to be the first to make a T shirt that says "The Pitchforks are Coming"?
Not much more will be known about Kash until the confirmation hearings start.

Re: Kash Patel Fact Check
Probably catch a lot of dissenting flak about this but will be nothing new.
Personally dismantling the FBI is not such a bad Idea considering they and DHS are doing pretty much the same job. 2 bloated agencies, personel wise,, doing the same task sure seems like a waste of time, personnel and resources( tax payers funds). IMO has nothing to do with politics, simple sound fiscal management, do away with one or the other fund sucking agency

Ken, so you are not at all concerned that the FBI intelligence wing will be dismantled? There are already regional offices. I suppose some will be dispersed to the regions. But some may not be able to move, etc.

Re: Kash Patel Fact Check
What a bunch of crazy looney toons you are here! The actual fact check exposed today is that there WERE paid FBI informants on Jan 6 and the FBI has been lying for years. But you knuckleheads keep blowing up your crazy conspiracy theories to try and gin up false fear.

That's probably what we're heading for.

Pal, TIME was recently bought by one of the Trump supporting billionaires. Explains a lot.

Two phrases I expect to hear a lot of in the next few years: malicious compliance and uncivil obedience.

Re: Kash Patel Fact Check
I did think that this could or even will jeopardize our national security. Another round up of more enemies of Trump?
And it could kill more Americans, as you say.
Maybe fellow citizens should Rise and Resist. This is a book I am reading by Sun Rivera. She comes down hard on the corporate state in which we are occupied. Oligarchs, billionaires, etc. Non violent forms of protest, one of which is being uncooperative. But protesting could come under fire too, huh? Have to go with the party line or into the gulag.
Senator Whitehouse says Wray should have stayed until he was fired. But he was under pressure to quit. What kind of pressure? Who was pressuring him? Some guesses?
Oh, Time magazine does it again. Trump named man of the year. Really doesn't mean that much.

Re: Kash Patel Fact Check
A few notes from the reality-based community here:
There are about 10_000 FBI special agents and about 14_000 non law-enforcement staff at the FBI. For comparison purposes there are a bit over 3000 cities in the USA with a population over 10_000. Dispersing FBI agents across the country to chase down imaginary "enemies" seems like a sure-fire way to make sure they are in the Wrong Place if somebody decides to do something bad to our country.
Put another way, this crap is like sending an invitation to every terrorist group with a beef or every loon who wants a reputation as a big-game hunter.
So as far as I can tell this is a way to kill more Americans. This is not some abstract and theoretical discussion. If we do crap like this our fellow citizens are going to die unpleasantly. We might die unpleasantly.

Re: Kash Patel Fact Check
Patel has been railing against the FBI as what he calls the arm of the Deep State for years. You can clear your browser and simply type in Kash Patel fact check and the sites and articles will populate. His book gives many insights.
Yes, he's said that he wants to send agents out across the country to go after Trump's enemies and to 'be law enforcement'. Even Bill Barr balked at having Trump bring him into the DoJ when Trump was President. Patel has said he wants to close down the FBI on day one and make the headquarters into a museum of the deep state.
With Chris Wray's departure it will make Trump's dream of putting Patel in without Senate approval more difficult.

The biggest worry is really if and how the FBI will be able to maintain its independence from the WH under Trump. The last thing that is needed is to have the FBI end up as the personal arm of retribution for the President. We already went thru that with Hoover.

Kash Patel Fact Check
Does anyone have a fact check site? I wanted to check the statement on the news that Patel wants to dissassemble the intelligence gathering arm of the FBI. The news seems to end there and maybe that is all they have. Another source said he wants to spread agents all across the US.
